Reliability is a responsibility that Duke Energy takes very seriously. As part of our dedication to build a smarter energy grid, Duke Energy is building a 69-13.2-kilovolt (kV) substation at 4547 Socialville Foster Road in Mason, Ohio.
Warren County is the fastest growing county in southwest Ohio. As a result, the need for energy has grown in Warren County, and Duke Energy is committed to providing dependable, cost-effective and reliable service to our Warren County customers. This project will provide greater energy capacity and enhanced service reliability now and in the future for this thriving community.

The new substation will connect to an existing 69-kV transmission line, which will provide greater capacity and enhanced service reliability for this growing community.
The substation will be inside a securely fenced area with a gravel base. It will have a transformer to change voltage levels between high transmission voltages and the lower distribution voltages that carry energy to homes and businesses. There also will be a small building inside the fence that houses substation controls. The substation will have directional lighting at night for safety and security
Community engagement allows us to receive input and to share information about this project.
