As the area population grows, so does its energy needs. Our forecasts predict that North Carolina's demand for energy will increase over the next decade. The transmission system in North Carolina is an open access system, meaning the transmission system serves all utilities in the state and their customers. The rebuilt transmission line and substations will strengthen reliability to meet the growing demand and will enhance the ability of Duke Energy and neighboring utilities to provide safe and reliable energy to homes, community facilities, and businesses in Transylvania County.
